Earth, Heart & Everything In Between

Warning: Grab your tissues—you might cry!

Millennials are going through a worse emotional turmoil…

If you’re in your mid or late 20s, you’ve probably been invited to a number of weddings.
You attend some excitedly, some dutifully, and most with no interest (Oh come on! 😋)
But when it’s your best friend’s wedding, it hits differently—a mixed bag of emotions. (You cry! You laugh! You squeal! You panic… and what not!)

It’s an awkward phase because you don’t really know how to process it.
The moment she reveals the news, you might be more excited than anyone she’s told—maybe even more excited than her. Your best friend is getting married. Like, actually married.
Squealing with excitement, you want to know every single detail…
But life isn’t that simple, right?
So you start staring into empty space and walk down memory lane…

Panic mode: activated.
Your mood swings become 30x faster than a rifle bullet.
(Nah!! I’m not bipolar 😄)
And your mind? More unstable than Ted Mosby’s dating history. (Any HIMYM fans?)

Happy mode – Omg! My best friend is getting married…
Shopping mode – Yay! Let’s go crazy shopping together.
Sad mode – Is it time for me to settle down too?…
Realization mode – We’ve grown up so fast… are we adults??
Motivation mode – It’s time to get back in shape. I should start working out.

Then suddenly…

What should I wear to her wedding? Lehenga/salwar/saree?? What jewelry?? Freaks out!
And then: mentally planning your own wedding

…and the spiral continues…
Denial mode – Nope. We’re still kids. I think she’s marrying too early.
Detective mode – Is she marrying the right guy?
Insecurity mode – She’ll move away, and I’ll be left behind.

Then boom—you’re planning her bachelorette. YAY!

Meanwhile, in a parallel universe…
Self-doubt mode – What am I doing with my life? Am I on the right path?
Height of insanity mode – What if her fiancé is a psychopath??
(Then you laugh because that sounds ridiculously insane 😅)
Is-this-really-happening mode – Wait… is this real?
Then comes the classic blah-blah mode – mentally exhausted.

And before you know it—the day is officially here!
You’re not the happiest chick on the planet, but adrenaline is running high.
(Families take care of the wedding. Friends take care of the bride.)
You’re now her personal assistant—always there when she needs you.
Running endlessly, day and night, through the wedding marathon.
You’re tired AF, basically stumbling, on the verge of collapse.

But all that fades away when you see her walking down the aisle…
Omg!! She’s the prettiest bride ever!
Tears well up in your eyes…
Your phone’s album is full of pictures of your bestie in bridal glory.

Then comes the post-wedding-honeymoon phase—sadness kicks in.
But for you, not her.
You’re back on your couch with no more bestie-wedding-planning duties (for now).
A spoonful of ice cream.
Your favorite sitcom on screen (Yes, it’s F.R.I.E.N.D.S.)

Bottom line:
Despite all the worries and insecurities, you’re genuinely happy for her—because she feels happy and loved.

Okay now—some of you may feel this is slightly exaggerated, but girls out there with a best friend getting married can’t deny these thoughts have crossed their minds.

There are few events in life as fun, emotional, and exciting as a close friend’s wedding. Don’t miss it!

(If this post is relatable, please share your experiences in the comments section… Bye until the next post!)

Dedicated to my best friend

Over the years I’ve had the privilege of watching some of my best friends marry their loves. You should forever be honored that Keertana chose the pretty you, to stand next to her on her happiest day. You should cherish that to helped her cope through many semi-bridezilla momens. Pretty darn cool writing. Loved the flow, except for the few hiccups… You have come a long way for sure… Love to Keerti Any contact numbers…?
